Country Director, Democratic Republic of Congo

About the role

The Country Director is the official representative and senior leader of Women for Women International in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This role shapes the vision and strategy for the country office, overseeing all programmatic and operational activities while ensuring high‑impact services for women.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the country strategy, including annual work plans and budgets.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team delivering a 12‑month gender‑transformative graduation program and related initiatives.
• Represent WfWI to donors, government, civil society and partners, cultivating new funding and partnership opportunities.
• Oversee financial, administrative and logistical resources, ensuring compliance with donor requirements and WfWI standards.
• Drive fundraising, manage the funding pipeline and secure resources to scale programs.
• Monitor, evaluate and learn from program impact, guiding continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven ability to build capacity, counsel staff and manage senior teams.
• Strong commitment to women’s empowerment and experience in gender‑transformative development programming.
• Excellent leadership, management and communication skills, both written and oral.
• Ability to operate effectively in unstable and challenging environments.
