Country Director – Democratic Republic of Congo

About the role

People in Need (PIN) is seeking a Country Director to lead its programme in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Based in Kinshasa with regular travel to Goma and Bukavu, you will be the primary representative of PIN, steering strategic direction, donor relations and programme delivery across conflict‑affected areas.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership aligned with PIN’s mission, vision and values.
• Represent PIN to donors, NGOs, government authorities and coordination platforms.
• Strengthen PIN’s visibility and influence through networking and participation in relevant forums.
• Identify and pursue funding opportunities to ensure programme sustainability.
• Oversee implementation of medium‑ and short‑term plans in coordination with HQ.
• Manage security, risk, support functions and human‑resource development for the national team.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in humanitarian or development programmes, preferably in conflict‑affected settings.
• Strong track record in donor relationship management and fundraising.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills with national and international stakeholders.
• Ability to lead and motivate a multidisciplinary team across multiple locations.
