Country Director for DR Congo

About the role

The Country Director is the principal representative of People in Need (PIN) in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Based in Kinshasa, the role provides strategic leadership for the country programme, oversees a national team, and ensures alignment with PIN’s mission, values and strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement the strategic direction of the DRC programme, ensuring compliance with PIN policies and standards.
• Represent PIN to donors, government authorities, NGOs, coordination platforms and other key stakeholders.
• Strengthen PIN’s visibility and influence in the country through active participation in forums and communication initiatives.
• Identify, develop and secure funding opportunities and donor partnerships.
• Oversee programme implementation, security, risk management, support functions and human‑resource development.
• Lead the national team located in Bukavu and field sites, fostering a high‑performance culture.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience in humanitarian or development programmes, preferably in conflict‑affected settings.
• Proven track record in donor relations, fundraising and partnership building.
• Strong understanding of the DRC context, including political, security and humanitarian dynamics.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex operations.
