Country Financial Controller

About the role

Concern Worldwide is seeking a Country Financial Controller to lead the finance function for its operations in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This 24‑month fixed‑term position can be based in Kinshasa (accompanied) or Goma (unaccompanied) and will involve regular travel to programme sites in North Kivu and Tanganyika.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the country finance team, including the Deputy Finance Controller and two Programme Accountants.
• Maintain and strengthen internal financial controls, ledger management, cash‑book and bank reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with Concern Worldwide financial policies and donor requirements.
• Manage treasury functions, budgeting, financial planning and reporting for all grants.
• Provide financial oversight to partners and conduct staff training on finance procedures.
• Liaise with senior management, HR, logistics, regional finance, auditors and donors.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior finance roles within NGOs or international development.
• Demonstrated ability to lead finance teams and implement robust control frameworks.
• Strong understanding of grant management, budgeting and financial reporting.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 30 % of the time.
