Deputy Team Leader – Scaling Climate‑Smart Agribusiness Finance

About the role

Mercy Corps is seeking a Deputy Team Leader to support the Scaling Climate‑Smart Agribusiness Finance (SCAFIN) component of its Green Growth Programme in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The role will help expand access to finance for climate‑smart agribusinesses across several provinces, driving private investment and sustainable agricultural development.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Team Leader in designing and implementing financial products for climate‑smart agribusinesses.
• Coordinate with financial institutions, impact funds, and agribusiness partners to catalyse private capital.
• Oversee grant management, monitoring, and reporting on programme outcomes.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team, ensuring compliance with Mercy Corps policies and donor requirements.
• Facilitate stakeholder engagement, including government agencies, NGOs, and community groups.
• Support data collection and analysis to measure impact on financial inclusion and climate resilience.

Required profile

• Significant experience in agribusiness finance, climate‑smart agriculture, or development finance.
• Proven leadership or senior management experience in a multi‑partner environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work in complex, conflict‑affected settings, preferably in the DRC or similar contexts.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills, with fluency in English.
