About the role

Virunga Foundation is seeking a Finance Director to lead the financial strategy of Virunga Développement, its agro‑industrial arm operating in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. The role combines finance, strategy and operational execution to improve profitability and support the development of new processing units.

Key responsibilities

• Design and maintain a robust financial and operational reporting framework by business unit, production site and product line.
• Analyse monthly performance metrics such as revenue, margins, EBITDA, cash flow and working capital, identify variances and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare annual budgets, monthly forecasts and resource allocation plans to guide agro‑industrial activities.
• Develop financial models and dashboards (using Power BI, advanced Excel or similar tools) to support pricing, volume, cost and investment decisions.
• Collaborate with field teams and the Chief Accountant to ensure accurate statutory closing, bookkeeping and compliance.
• Drive financial transparency, improve economic performance of existing units and structure new industrial projects.

Required profile

• Experience comparable to a senior associate in a strategy consulting firm, transaction advisory practice, corporate finance department or entrepreneurial environment.
• Strong analytical and rigorous approach with a results‑oriented mindset.
• Ability to translate financial and operational data into clear management recommendations.
• Comfort working closely with field teams in a challenging, resource‑constrained setting.
