Emergency Director

About the role

Concern Worldwide is seeking an Emergency Director to lead its rapid-response programmes in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Based in Goma, the role will oversee the design, coordination and delivery of high-quality emergency interventions for displaced populations, primarily in North Kivu and Ituri.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for all emergency response, preparedness and recovery activities in DRC.
• Manage and mentor the emergency Programme Managers and their cash and WASH teams.
• Ensure interventions are implemented on time, within budget and to the highest standards of quality and accountability.
• Lead Concern’s participation in the SAFER consortium, coordinating with four partner INGOs and the Consortium Coordination Unit.
• Develop and position the organisation to respond to new alerts and funding modalities.
• Collaborate closely with the Country Director, Programme Director, Area Coordinators, Humanitarian Access advisers, sectoral advisers and Logistics Coordinator.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in humanitarian emergency response, preferably in conflict-affected settings.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams and large-scale cash and WASH programmes.
• Strong knowledge of the DRC humanitarian context and the operational challenges in North Kivu and Ituri.
• Excellent coordination skills with donors, partners and government authorities.

What we offer

• 12-month fixed-term contract (Grade 5) with a salary range of €48,648 – €54,054 per year.
• Base in Goma with regular travel throughout eastern DRC.
