Emergency Specialist (Access) – 6‑Month Temporary Appointment

About the role

The Emergency Specialist (Access) will support UNICEF’s response to the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Reporting to the Chief of Emergency, the incumbent will coordinate data collection, reporting and response activities to ensure an effective, child‑focused emergency response.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate country‑office data collection, reporting and response activities related to the Ebola outbreak.
• Develop, plan, implement, monitor and evaluate emergency interventions, ensuring evidence‑based decision‑making.
• Facilitate humanitarian access, negotiate with authorities and monitor access constraints.
• Engage communities to promote acceptance of response measures and support behaviour change.
• Manage information systems for access monitoring and share knowledge with partners.
• Provide operational support and capacity‑strengthening to UNICEF staff and partners.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in social sciences, public administration, law, public health, nutrition, international relations, business administration or related fields.
• Relevant professional experience in humanitarian access, emergency response, or public health coordination, preferably in complex settings.
• Demonstrated ability to work in insecure environments, negotiate with multiple stakeholders and adapt to rapidly changing contexts.
