Emergency Specialist – Ebola Response (P-4, 6‑month TA)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking an Emergency Specialist (P‑4) on a six‑month temporary assignment to lead the country office’s Ebola response in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The role reports to the Chief Emergency and is responsible for coordinating emergency interventions, ensuring preparedness, and supporting vulnerable children and communities.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate overall country office emergency and response activities related to Ebola.
• Develop, plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate emergency interventions.
• Lead Ebola emergency preparedness and public health readiness initiatives.
• Manage programme implementation and strategic coordination with national authorities and partners.
• Provide technical guidance on surveillance, infection prevention, and continuity of essential services.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in social sciences, public administration, law, public health, nutrition, international relations, business administration or related fields.
• Minimum eight years of progressively responsible experience in programme/project development, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and administration at national and international levels.
• Experience working in developing country contexts, preferably in health emergencies.
• Fluency in English; additional language skills are a plus.
