Expert in Mining Standards and Responsible Sourcing

About the role

Pact is seeking a Mining Standards and Responsible Sourcing Expert to provide technical leadership on responsible mining, due diligence, and human and labour rights within critical mineral supply chains in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The role supports government bodies, mining companies, cooperatives, professional organisations and civil society in aligning their practices with national and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑level technical expertise on national and international mining standards, including human rights, labour rights and responsible sourcing.
• Advise stakeholders on applying frameworks that prevent child and forced labour, ensure traceability, transparency and anti‑corruption measures.
• Promote the adoption of best practices for due diligence, risk management and compliance across artisanal and industrial mining sectors.
• Bridge national reforms with provincial implementation to ensure effective application of public policies and standards.
• Collaborate closely with the Capacity Building Officer and the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer for the Madini Safi project.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in responsible mining, due diligence and mining governance.
• Strong knowledge of human rights, labour rights and child‑labour prevention in the DRC mining context.
• Ability to work with government institutions, mining companies, cooperatives and civil‑society organisations.
• Technical leadership skills to guide policy alignment and operational implementation.
