Expert Logistics for Humanitarian Projects

About the role

The Expert Logistics will lead all logistics and procurement activities for two KfW‑funded humanitarian projects in Ituri and Maniema, based in the Goma Country Office of Welthungerhilfe. The role ensures timely acquisition of goods and services, compliance with organisational and donor regulations, and effective coordination with field logisticians.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the annual procurement plan, including budgeting and scheduling.
• Ensure compliance with Welthungerhilfe’s RAC procedures and donor regulations throughout the procurement cycle.
• Negotiate contracts and RFQs for a wide range of commodities and services, securing best value and lead times.
• Manage the full supply chain, from order placement through expediting, delivery, and receipt.
• Oversee property management and inventory control, preparing regular reports and reconciliations for expendable and non‑expendable items.
• Conduct cycle inventory reconciliations, maintain asset registers, and provide stock status updates to project heads.
• Organise fleet and transport, implementing vehicle tracking tools, booking processes, and maintenance checks.
• Deliver logistics training workshops on storage, distribution, and inventory procedures.

Required profile

• University or polytechnic degree in logistics, supply chain management or a related field.
• Minimum five years of experience in humanitarian or development logistics and procurement, preferably in the region.
• Experience with KfW donor requirements is a strong asset.
• Strong coordination and organisational abilities, able to work under high workload.
