Expert Programme Coordinator – Project Management

About the role

Welthungerhilfe is seeking an Expert Programme Coordinator to support the Head of Project in delivering the KFW‑funded GIAP 1 project in Ituri and Maniema provinces. The role ensures timely, cost‑effective implementation of activities related to infrastructure, WASH, income generation and agriculture for communities bordering protected areas.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Head of Project in securing all necessary support functions (monitoring, logistics, finance, administration).
• Coordinate project activities to meet deadlines and budget constraints.
• Maintain regular communication with technical staff and project managers, providing guidance on implementation efficiency.
• Lead and guide the MEAL team, ensuring monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning meet donor requirements.
• Prepare narrative reports in line with donor and WHH financial and administrative guidelines.
• Develop and align conceptual approaches for income‑generating activities and facilitate knowledge exchange with stakeholders.
• Support financial assistants with budgeting and financial tracking.
• Ensure consistent communication with external partners and the donor, coordinated with the Head of Project and Country Office.
• Report project progress, risks and compliance to the Head of Project.
• Represent WHH with national and international stakeholders and assume full signatory responsibility in the Head of Project’s absence.

Required profile

• University or college degree with relevant professional experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in donor relations management for development cooperation.
• Proven experience developing conceptual approaches to livelihoods development.
• Experience managing remote teams.
• Regional experience in Central Africa or the Democratic Republic of the Congo is an asset.
