Facilities Management Assistant – GL-4 (UN Mission, Goma)

About the role

The United Nations Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO) is seeking a Facilities Management Assistant (GL-4) to support construction, maintenance and engineering activities at its field offices in Goma. Reporting to the Head of the Operations Unit, the incumbent will ensure that all installations are safe, functional and compliant with local building codes.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out construction, framing, finishing and repair of metal and wood structures, including prefabricated container installations.
• Operate heavy and light engineering equipment for runway, helipad, septic‑pit and other earth‑moving works.
• Perform scheduled and emergency maintenance on all mission installations.
• Conduct surveys, calculate material quantities and monitor inventory to ensure efficient use of resources.
• Measure, mark and arrange materials in accordance with national and local building regulations.
• Liaise with the Project Unit supervisor, masons and other technicians for technical advice.
• Provide administrative support to the Unit Head on ongoing projects and report progress and issues.
