Finance Officer

About the role

Welthungerhilfe is seeking a Finance Officer to manage the financial administration of two KfW‑funded projects in Kirumba, DRC. You will ensure that all financial processes are efficient, auditable and fully compliant with WHH and donor standards, while also training local staff on finance, administration and HR procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Manage project funds according to WHH and co‑financer specifications.
• Maintain accurate documentation, account assignments and bookkeeping entries using bookkeeping software.
• Clear internal costs within and between projects.
• Prepare budgetary and expenditure reports for project heads and partners.
• Compile annual accounts in collaboration with the Head of Project and Head of Finance.
• Process refunds, returns and final fund requests to donors.
• Supervise and advise local administrative staff.
• Oversee purchases, contract awards and compliance with WHH and co‑financer regulations.
• Monitor relief supplies, import compliance, inventory accounting and conduct physical inventory checks.
• Manage project inventory and vehicle fleet.
• Assist in budget preparation, formal review and liquidity planning.

Required profile

• University or college degree in Business Administration, Finance or Economics.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in financial project administration for partner‑implemented projects.
• International work experience, preferably in the DRC.
• Experience collaborating with donors such as KfW, USAID, BMZ or GFFO.
• Willingness to receive required vaccinations for WHH programme countries.
• Excellent spoken and written French and good English skills.

• Proficiency with bookkeeping software.
