Finance Officer – Project Finance Management

About the role

Welthungerhilfe is seeking a Finance Officer to manage the financial administration of several donor‑funded projects in Kirumba, Democratic Republic of the Congo. You will ensure that all financial processes are efficient, compliant with donor requirements, and fully auditable.

Key responsibilities

• Manage project funds in line with WHH and co‑financer specifications.
• Maintain accurate bookkeeping entries using the designated software.
• Clear internal costs across projects and prepare budgetary documentation for the Head of Project and PPO.
• Prepare annual accounts, refunds, returns, and final fund requests for donors.
• Supervise and train local WHH and partner staff on finance, administration, and logistics standards.
• Oversee procurement, contract awards, and compliance with import regulations.
• Monitor inventory and vehicle fleet, ensuring proper accounting and physical inspections.
• Assist in budget preparation, formal correctness checks, and liquidity planning.

Required profile

• University degree in Business Administration, Finance or Economics.
• 3–5 years of experience in financial project administration, preferably with partner‑implemented projects.
• International experience, ideally in the DRC.
• Experience working with donors such as BMZ and USAID.
• Willingness to receive required vaccinations for field work.
• Fluent spoken and written English and French.

• Proficiency with bookkeeping software.
