French and English‑Speaking Field Finance Coordinator

About the role

The Field Finance Coordinator supports the mission by defining, coordinating and monitoring finance strategies, policies and internal controls, ensuring transparent and reliable financial information for the organization and its donors.

Key responsibilities

• Participate as an active member of the Country Management Team (CMT) to define mission objectives and strategies.
• Plan, implement and monitor financial operational and budget needs, anticipating changes and ensuring relevance of budgets.
• Define the mission’s financial strategy with the Head of Mission, assess and mitigate financial risks, and ensure a robust internal control system.
• Ensure compliance with MSF policies, national legal frameworks and adapt local procedures for optimal resource management.
• Manage donor funding agreements, prepare proposals, financial reports and oversee donor contracts.
• Coordinate treasury functions, maintain cash levels, manage bank accounts, oversee fund transfers and monitor supplier and staff payments.
• Provide regular financial health indicators, cost analysis, variance monitoring and recommend corrective actions.
• Lead, coach and develop the finance team, handling conflicts and ensuring capability.
• Sensitize executive staff on financial risks and responsibilities.

Required profile

• Bilingual proficiency in French and English.
• Proven experience in field finance coordination within humanitarian or similar contexts.
• Strong knowledge of financial management, internal controls, donor reporting and treasury operations.
• Ability to work in challenging environments and lead a finance team.
