Head of Operations – Mining Logistics & Freight

About the role

We are seeking a Head of Operations to lead end‑to‑end multi‑modal logistics supporting tier‑one mining clients in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The role oversees road transport, containerised freight, depot operations and customs coordination across key inland and coastal corridors.

Key responsibilities

• Direct fleet movements, road haulage networks, container yards, cross‑docking hubs and coastal transit points.
• Act as primary liaison for mine site managers, logistics directors and commercial teams to align delivery schedules and export/import strategies.
• Manage full container load, out‑of‑gauge equipment, hazardous materials and bulk concentrate movements.
• Monitor transport turnaround times, depot dwell times, equipment availability and cost metrics to ensure SLA compliance.
• Enforce international safety standards, mine‑site access protocols, local transport regulations and border compliance.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years progressive operations experience in freight forwarding, road haulage and heavy industrial logistics.
• Proven track record handling mining cargo (copper, cobalt concentrates, reagents, heavy machinery) in Central or Sub‑Saharan Africa.
• Full professional proficiency in French and English (spoken, read, written).
• Hands‑on leader capable of mentoring multinational teams in remote environments.
