National Consultant for WASH Survey in Lualaba and South Kivu provinces of DRC

About the role

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is seeking a National Consultant to lead a baseline Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) survey in four priority health zones across Lualaba and South Kivu provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The consultant will work closely with the Country Support Platform, the National Cholera Elimination Programme and the Congolese Red Cross to collect reliable data that will guide cholera‑prevention interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for the design and implementation of the WASH baseline survey in the selected health zones.
• Coordinate logistics, field teams and volunteer networks to ensure safe and timely data collection.
• Adapt and deploy the KOBO data‑collection platform, including questionnaire set‑up, testing and troubleshooting.
• Train local staff and volunteers on survey methodology, data entry and quality‑control procedures.
• Analyse survey results and prepare concise reports for discussion with local authorities and IFRC partners.

Required profile

• Relevant academic background in public health, environmental health, WASH or a related field.
• Proven experience conducting field surveys in low‑resource or insecure settings.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with multiple stakeholders, including NGOs and government agencies.

Required skills

• KOBO data‑collection platform.
