Process / Mineral Processing Lead (Lead Design Authority)

About the role

Our client, an innovative mining development platform operating in the Democratic Republic of Congo, is entering the engineering and execution phase of a 200 TPH hard‑rock gold processing plant. The Process / Mineral Processing Lead will act as the Lead Design Authority, owning the complete process design, metallurgical recovery strategy, mass‑balance development and technical integration.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development of process flowsheets, PFDs and P&IDs for a 200 TPH hard‑rock gold plant.
• Define and optimise metallurgical recovery strategies and operating philosophies.
• Develop detailed mass balances, equipment sizing schedules and technical specifications.
• Coordinate with mechanical, structural, electrical, piping and civil disciplines and review vendor submissions.
• Provide commissioning support, define start‑up parameters and drive plant optimisation.
• Prepare process design criteria, technical reports and ensure fabrication‑ready outputs.

Required profile

• 10–20+ years of mineral processing experience, preferably in hard‑rock gold plants.
• Degree in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, Chemical Engineering or related field.
• Strong background in EPCM, mining consultancy or owner‑team environments.
• Proven delivery of operational plants and commissioning experience.
• Significant experience working in the DRC or Central African mining projects.

Required skills

• Process simulation and metallurgical software.
• Creation of Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID).
• Mass‑balance calculations and equipment sizing.
• Design of crushing circuits, milling systems, gravity recovery and flotation.
• Gold recovery process expertise.
