Programme Officer (PSEA) – Temporary (6 months)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Programme Officer specialized in Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) to support the Ebola response in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Based in Bunia, the officer will work across Ituri, North Kivu and South Kivu, collaborating with government, civil‑society partners and the inter‑agency PSEA network.

Key responsibilities

• Support implementation of the PSEA component of the Ebola response plan.
• Coordinate with the Social and Behavior Change (SBC) team on community engagement activities.
• Work with Child Protection to ensure care for victims of sexual exploitation and abuse.
• Represent the Ebola response PSEA Programme Officer in coordination bodies as needed.
• Provide capacity‑building and risk‑mitigation support to partners.
• Assist government authorities and inter‑agency partners on PSEA matters.
• Report and respond to allegations of sexual exploitation and abuse.

Required profile

• Experience in humanitarian programmes, preferably in health emergencies.
• Knowledge of PSEA policies and procedures.
• Ability to work in insecure and logistically challenging environments.
• Strong coordination and communication skills.

Required skills

• Understanding of PSEA frameworks and reporting mechanisms.
• Experience in capacity building and risk mitigation.
• Familiarity with child protection and community engagement approaches.
