Programme Specialist (Cholera) – P-3 (Temporary, 7 months)

About the role

The Programme Specialist (Cholera) will lead UNICEF’s emergency cholera response in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Reporting to the Chief Emergency in Kinshasa, the specialist coordinates rapid response activities, supports policy development, and ensures effective implementation of community‑based interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate preparation and response to cholera outbreaks at national level.
• Develop, plan, implement, monitor and evaluate emergency cholera interventions, including Case Area Targeted Interventions (CATI).
• Provide technical guidance to the internal UNICEF cholera task force and cluster technical groups.
• Support policy and program planning with the Government of DRC and other partners.
• Ensure cost‑efficient, coordinated delivery of cholera response activities.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or equivalent in public health, WASH, humanitarian assistance or related field.
• Minimum five years of progressive professional experience in emergency programme or project development at the international level.
• Demonstrated experience in cholera control, public health preparedness, and emergency response.
