Programme Specialist – Cholera (P-3) – Temporary (7 months)

About the role

The Programme Specialist (Cholera) will lead UNICEF's emergency cholera response in the Democratic Republic of Congo, coordinating rapid interventions and supporting national health authorities. This is a 7‑month temporary appointment at the P‑3 level.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate preparation and response to cholera outbreaks across the DRC.
• Develop, plan, implement, monitor and evaluate emergency cholera interventions, including Case Area Targeted Interventions (CATI).
• Provide technical guidance and support to the UNICEF cholera task force and cluster technical groups.
• Ensure programme activities are cost‑efficient, well‑coordinated and aligned with government policies.
• Support policy and programme planning for cholera prevention and control.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or equivalent in public health, WASH, humanitarian assistance or a related field.
• Minimum five years of progressive professional experience at the international level in emergency programme or project development.
• Demonstrated experience in cholera or infectious disease outbreak response.
• Strong understanding of emergency management and public health systems.
