Ranch Director

About the role

The Ranch Director will lead the strategic and operational turnaround of a 20,000‑head cattle enterprise in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The mandate is to shift the operation from extensive grazing to a disciplined, paddock‑based intensive system while improving breeding, health outcomes and data‑driven management.

Key responsibilities

• Execute the transition from open‑range grazing to a structured paddock system, including infrastructure and movement units.
• Establish and enforce protocols to meet elite targets for neonatal survival, calving percentages, weaning weights and body‑condition scores.
• Standardize veterinary interventions and bio‑security measures, ensuring compliance with vaccination, dipping and culling schedules.
• Translate field data into executive reports and drive decisions using a Ranching ERP.
• Oversee ordering, stocking and distribution of feed, supplements, veterinary medicines and other inputs.
• Manage the ranch fleet and mechanical assets, ensuring high availability of trucks, tractors and processing equipment.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading large‑scale cattle operations and implementing systematic process changes.
• Strong ability to manage complex logistics, supply chains and heavy‑duty equipment fleets.
• Experience with data collection, reporting and ERP systems in an agricultural setting.
