Regional Technical Advisor I – Polio (West Africa)

About the role

The West Africa Regional Technical Advisor I (Polio) will lead the STRIDES activity’s polio eradication work across multiple countries, providing strategic and technical guidance on surveillance, laboratory strengthening, and data analysis. The role is remote‑based, supporting both Anglophone and Francophone West African nations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic oversight and technical assistance for polio surveillance, laboratory operations, and data quality across assigned countries.
• Align STRIDES polio activities with global guidance, national policies, GPEI norms, and donor regulations.
• Mentor and strengthen capacity of country‑level teams, local partners, and government counterparts.
• Develop tools, guidance, and learning products to enhance the STRIDES polio portfolio.
• Represent STRIDES with donors and stakeholders such as the U.S. Department of State, UNICEF, CDC, and GPEI technical groups.
• Collaborate with FHI 360, consortium partners, and local entities to ensure coordinated implementation and rigorous reporting.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in infectious disease surveillance and polio eradication programs.
• Proven ability to work across multi‑country, multi‑language environments.
• Strong understanding of global health security priorities and donor compliance.
