Retail Sales Manager

About the role

The Retail Sales Manager will lead the strategic direction, commercial performance, and operational excellence of all retail outlets and kiosks across the region for a leading telecommunications provider in Sub‑Saharan Africa. The role focuses on sustainable revenue growth, retail footprint optimisation, and delivering a premium customer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement regional retail sales strategies and commercial plans to meet revenue and subscriber acquisition targets.
• Analyse market trends and footfall data to identify opportunities for new store openings, kiosk relocations, or format optimisation.
• Manage the retail department budget, monitor operating expenses and ensure high ROI for campaigns and store operations.
• Establish Service Level Agreements and Voice‑of‑Customer loops to improve Net Promoter Score.
• Develop and enforce SOPs for inventory, cash handling, KYC compliance and CRM usage.
• Collaborate with Marketing on trade‑marketing materials, campaigns and product launches.
• Lead, mentor and evaluate Retail Team Leaders and Supervisors, driving professional development.

Required profile

• Proven experience in retail sales leadership within a fast‑moving consumer or telecom environment.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to translate data into actionable retail strategies.
• Excellent financial acumen for P&L and budget management.
• Customer‑centric attitude with a focus on service excellence.
