SAFER Consortium Director

About the role

The SAFER Consortium Director leads a multi‑partner humanitarian programme funded by the UK FCDO and ECHO, operating across seven provinces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Hosted by Mercy Corps, the Director reports to the consortium Steering Committee and represents the consortium at the highest national level.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall strategic leadership and ensure effective coordination among the five partner agencies.
• Oversee programme implementation, including cash‑and‑voucher assistance (CVA) and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) interventions.
• Maintain relationships with donors, government bodies, UN agencies and other external stakeholders.
• Lead communication, advocacy and public‑relations activities in collaboration with partner country directors.
• Supervise the Deputy Director responsible for operational coordination and quality improvement.

Required profile

• Extensive experience managing large‑scale humanitarian or development programmes in conflict‑affected settings.
• Proven ability to lead multi‑agency consortia and engage senior government and donor officials.
• Strong understanding of multi‑sectoral emergency assistance, CVA mechanisms and WASH programmes.
