Security and Safety Coordinator (DRC, nationals only)

About the role

The Security and Safety Coordinator will lead the global security focal team for ActionAid DRC, ensuring staff and partner safety across the country. This position is open to Congolese nationals and involves designing, delivering and overseeing security programmes in a complex humanitarian environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide safety and security training to staff and partners as requested.
• Plan and conduct rehearsals and practical exercises to maintain security preparedness.
• Participate in programme criticality assessments and support senior decision‑making on security matters.
• Design and deliver security drills tailored to NGO operations.
• Perform other related duties as required by the security team.

Required profile

• Congolese nationality.
• Relevant university degree or equivalent technical security education.
• Minimum 4 years professional experience with an international NGO, including at least 2 years at a senior security level in the humanitarian sector.
• Deep knowledge of the operational security context in the DRC and humanitarian principles.
• Flexibility to respond to after‑hours emergencies and travel 40‑60 % within the DRC.

Required skills

• Proficient use of MS Teams.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with Google Maps for security planning.
• Competent use of other MS Office tools.
