Security Officer – Temporary (6 months) – Butembo

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Security Officer for a six‑month temporary appointment in Butembo, Democratic Republic of Congo. The role supports the Hub Coordinator in Beni and the Security Adviser in Kinshasa, ensuring the safety of staff, families, and UNICEF assets amid the ongoing Ebola response.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing and updating security plans and risk assessments for the duty station.
• Provide operational and administrative support for security‑related activities.
• Monitor security incidents and advise on mitigation measures.
• Coordinate with local authorities and partners to ensure safe movement of personnel.
• Safeguard UNICEF premises, assets, and resources.

Required profile

• University degree in Security Risk Management, International Relations, Conflict Analysis, Intelligence Analysis, Diplomatic Studies, Counter‑Terrorism or a related field.
• Minimum two years of professional experience in global security risk management or security analysis.
• Ability to work in a complex, insecure environment and adapt to rapidly changing conditions.
