Senior Digital Content Producer (Digital Journalism)

About the role

The Senior Digital Content Producer will join BBC World Service’s new Regional Journalism team in Bukavu, creating high‑impact visual journalism for digital audiences. Working across the full production cycle – from story idea to final video – the role supports the BBC’s ambition to deliver distinctive, agenda‑setting content that resonates locally, regionally and globally.

Key responsibilities

• Identify original stories, fresh angles and emerging trends to produce compelling video journalism for digital platforms.
• Lead the end‑to‑end production process, including reporting, filming, scripting and editing.
• Build and maintain source networks to secure exclusive content and expert contributors.
• Deliver high‑quality video coverage of breaking news and major events while upholding BBC editorial standards.
• Experiment with new formats, storytelling techniques and audience‑engagement approaches.
• Collaborate with editors, designers and social‑media teams to maximise reach and impact.
• Apply an audience‑first mindset, using platform expertise and efficient workflows to drive engagement.

Required profile

• Proven experience in visual storytelling and video journalism, preferably in a fast‑moving news environment.
• Strong editorial judgement and the ability to make independent decisions under pressure.
• Demonstrated ability to build source relationships and secure exclusive content.
• Flexibility to work on breaking stories and adapt quickly to changing priorities.

Required skills

• Excellent visual storytelling and narrative‑building capabilities.
• Ability to produce video content for multiple formats (vertical, square, horizontal) and understand platform performance.
• Knowledge of BBC editorial standards and journalistic ethics.
