Senior Project Associate – Protection Mainstreaming

About the role

The Senior Project Associate will lead protection mainstreaming activities within Movement Operations in the Democratic Republic of Congo, ensuring standards and guidelines are applied and that vulnerable populations receive inclusive support.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and monitor protection mainstreaming standards, tools and accountability mechanisms across all Movement Operations activities.
• Coordinate with RMM, Protection, and Field Support teams to ensure facilities, case‑management materials and SOPs are accessible and inclusive for children, older persons, persons with disabilities and diverse SOGIESC groups.
• Collect, analyse and report feedback on protection implementation, improve community feedback mechanisms and provide training to staff.
• Liaise with Migrant Protection Officer and Coordinator on data collection, accessibility issues and the development of new guidance.

Required profile

• Experience in protection mainstreaming, humanitarian programmes or migration management, preferably in the DRC context.
• Strong understanding of gender, age, disability inclusion, PSEA and MAAP minimum standards.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multiple units and external partners such as CBOs, CSOs and OPDs.

Required skills

• Knowledge of IOM’s RMM protection mainstreaming principles and MAAP tools.
• Experience designing and delivering training on protection topics.
• Proficiency in monitoring, reporting and feedback‑mechanism design.
