Senior Temple Clerk

About the role

The Senior Temple Clerk ensures that temple ordinances are recorded accurately, maintained with purity, and made available to worthy Church members. The role provides a welcoming environment for patrons and upholds standards set by temple leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Handles difficult and non‑routine questions, including phone support for local leaders during ordinance preparation and records verification.
• Monitors the temple recording function and resolves computer system operational problems using the computerized recording system.
• Supervises recruitment, interviewing, scheduling, and training of volunteers and clerical staff across areas such as Family Names System, Living and Immediate Family Records, and Appointment Desk.
• Proofreads audit reports, ordinance lists, cards, and family group sheets to ensure accuracy.
• Oversees input of lost‑and‑found logs, daily audits, and corrections to the recording system, and may review payroll timesheets for administrative staff.

Required profile

• Must hold a current temple recommend and be deemed worthy.
• Two years of college education plus two years of experience with temple computer systems, Family History, or related fields, or an equivalent combination.
• Ability to supervise, work well with people, handle confidential information, and motivate staff.
• Flexibility in work schedule and willingness to develop improvement ideas.
