Site Manager – Kahuzi-Biega National Park

About the role

The Wildlife Conservation Society is seeking an experienced Site Manager to lead day‑to‑day operations at the Kahuzi‑Biega National Park headquarters in Tshivanga, South‑Kivu. Reporting to the Park Director, the manager will ensure that all park functions—from ranger deployment to community liaison—operate cohesively to protect wildlife and support local communities.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise ranger teams and wildlife protection activities.
• Facilitate community engagement and liaison with local stakeholders.
• Oversee research initiatives, tourism development, and fundraising efforts.
• Manage reporting, communications, monitoring & evaluation, and capacity‑building programs.
• Support the Park Director in implementing the five‑year strategic plan.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in protected‑area management or conservation operations.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in challenging environments.
• Strong organizational and solution‑oriented coordination skills.
• Commitment to the mission of biodiversity conservation and community development.

Required skills

• Experience with ranger deployment and wildlife protection protocols.
• Knowledge of community outreach and stakeholder management.
• Familiarity with research coordination, tourism planning, and fundraising activities.
• Competence in reporting, communications, monitoring & evaluation, and staff capacity building.
