Social & Behavior Change Officer (RCCE) – 6‑month TA in DRC

About the role

The Social & Behaviour Change Officer will support UNICEF’s Ebola response in the North Kivu and Ituri provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Working under the RCCE/Social and Behaviour Change Specialist, the officer will help design, implement and monitor community‑focused risk communication and behaviour change activities across Butembo, Beni and Bunia.

Key responsibilities

• Generate and analyse evidence on community perceptions and behaviours related to Ebola.
• Plan and coordinate field‑level RCCE and SBC interventions, ensuring timely delivery.
• Facilitate community feedback mechanisms and social listening activities.
• Coordinate with partners, NGOs and local authorities to align efforts and resources.
• Provide operational support for resource use, reporting and logistics.
• Build capacity of local teams and partners through training and knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• University degree in social and behavioural science, sociology, anthropology, communication studies or a related field.
• Experience working in humanitarian or public health contexts, preferably in disease outbreak settings.
• Strong understanding of community engagement, social listening and behaviour change principles.
• Ability to work in insecure and rapidly changing environments.
