Strategic Programs Project Manager

About the role

The Strategic Programs Project Manager will lead enterprise‑wide technology and digital transformation initiatives, ensuring they are tightly aligned with Vodacom’s strategic priorities, financial commitments, and expected business value. This role acts as the bridge between technology leadership, business functions, and finance to deliver measurable impact.

Key responsibilities

• Define and agree program objectives, priorities, and ROI in partnership with business and technology stakeholders.
• Ensure every strategic program has clear value drivers, measurable outcomes, and tracks benefit realization against approved business cases.
• Align roadmaps, milestones, and delivery timelines across IT, digital platforms, network enablement, and business units.
• Orchestrate inter‑dependencies, monitor end‑to‑end progress, and manage commitments across multiple delivery teams and vendors.
• Identify and mitigate delivery, financial, and value‑realization risks; facilitate root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Design and operate a robust governance framework, defining decision gates, escalation paths, and assurance checkpoints.
• Collaborate with finance to align program delivery with CAPEX phasing, track spend versus plan, and support financial forecasting.
• Produce executive‑level reporting on delivery status, risks, financials, and benefits.

Required profile

• Proven ability to partner with senior technology, business, and finance leaders to define and deliver strategic programs.
• Strong experience in managing large‑scale, cross‑functional technology initiatives.
• Demonstrated skill in risk identification, root‑cause analysis, and implementing mitigation plans.
• Expertise in governance, assurance processes, and executive communication.
• Solid understanding of CAPEX/OPEX financial management and alignment with program delivery.
