Technical Specialist - Partnerships and Policy

About the role

The Technical Specialist – Partnerships and Policy will support the Central African Forest Initiative (CAFI) Trust Fund, administered by the UNDP Multi‑Partner Trust Fund Office. The role focuses on strengthening partnerships with donor governments and regional partners and advancing policy frameworks that address deforestation, climate change, and sustainable development in the Central African region.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement partnership strategies with donor countries, regional governments, and multilateral agencies.
• Coordinate policy dialogue and reforms related to REDD+ and Low Emissions Development (LED) investment frameworks.
• Provide technical advice to CAFI Executive Board and participating countries on forest conservation and climate mitigation measures.
• Monitor and report on the implementation of country‑led forest initiatives, ensuring alignment with CAFI objectives.
• Prepare briefing notes, policy briefs, and progress reports for senior management and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in environmental policy, climate change, natural resources management or a related field.
• Significant experience in international development, partnership building, and policy analysis.
• Strong understanding of the Central African forest context and REDD+/LED mechanisms.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
