Temple Grounds Supervisor

About the role

The Temple Grounds Supervisor ensures that the temple’s exterior reflects the beauty, cleanliness, and sacred nature expected by the congregation. This full‑time, onsite position oversees up to seven acres of landscaped areas, sidewalks, driveways, and building entrances, maintaining the high standards set by the First Presidency.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and enhance landscaped areas, ensuring they are clean, safe, and visually appealing.
• Supervise, train, and schedule a grounds crew, including volunteers and third‑party contractors.
• Develop and follow watering, fertilizing, mowing, weed and insect control schedules.
• Prune trees and shrubs, remove dead or diseased branches, and control plant growth.
• Oversee snow removal, litter control, and general site cleanliness.
• Inspect and report building and grounds repairs to the engineer.
• Manage supplies, equipment, and chemical usage, ensuring proper storage and safety.
• Stay current on horticultural best practices, new equipment, and local licensing requirements.

Required profile

• 2–4 years of experience in landscape gardening, horticulture, agriculture, or grounds maintenance.
• 1–2 years of supervisory experience.
• Degree or certification in a related field is preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb (23 kg).
• Experience working in a temple environment is a plus.
