WASH Infrastructure Technical Advisor – Ebola Response

About the role

Mercy Corps is seeking a Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Infrastructure Technical Advisor to support its emergency Ebola response in Bunia, Democratic Republic of the Congo. The advisor will work within a multi‑partner consortium to design, implement and monitor WASH solutions that protect health facilities and communities from Ebola transmission.

Key responsibilities

• Design, install and supervise WASH infrastructure (water supply, sanitation, hygiene facilities) in health zones affected by Ebola.
• Coordinate with Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) teams to ensure integrated IPC/WASH standards.
• Lead hygiene promotion activities and community engagement on safe water and sanitation practices.
• Monitor, evaluate and report on WASH performance indicators and compliance with humanitarian standards.
• Collaborate with local authorities, NGOs and international partners to align interventions and share best practices.

Required profile

• Proven experience in WASH programming within humanitarian or emergency contexts.
• Knowledge of Ebola response protocols and IPC/WASH integration.
• Ability to work in remote, high‑risk environments and travel to field sites.
• Strong communication skills in English; French is an asset.
• Flexibility to adapt to evolving emergency needs.
