WASH Manager (P-4) – 6‑Month Temporary Assignment

About the role

The WASH/IPC Coordinator will provide technical leadership and day‑to‑day operational coordination for UNICEF’s WASH and infection‑prevention response to the Ebola emergency in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Based in Bunia, the incumbent will oversee rapid implementation of priority interventions across health facilities, communities, schools and other critical sites.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical planning and operational coordination of WASH/IPC activities in all affected provinces.
• Ensure interventions are timely, technically sound, and aligned with national protocols, UNICEF procedures and emergency standards.
• Coordinate with other response pillars such as RCCE, surveillance, case management, logistics and operations.
• Support planning, monitoring, partner engagement, supply follow‑up, quality assurance and reporting for WASH/IPC interventions.
• Maintain strong linkages with national authorities and ensure the continuity of essential services for vulnerable populations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in WASH and infection‑prevention coordination within emergency contexts.
• Familiarity with national health protocols, UNICEF guidelines and emergency response standards.
• Ability to work in insecure and rapidly evolving environments.
• Strong coordination and communication skills to engage partners and stakeholders.
