WASH/IPC Manager for Ebola Response (6‑month TA)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a senior WASH/IPC Manager to lead technical and operational coordination of the water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and infection prevention and control (IPC) response to the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Based in Bunia, you will oversee rapid implementation of priority interventions across health facilities, communities, schools and other critical sites.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for WASH/IPC activities in all affected provinces.
• Coordinate day‑to‑day operations, ensuring interventions are timely, technically sound and aligned with national protocols.
• Collaborate with other response pillars such as RCCE, surveillance, case management, logistics and operations.
• Support planning, monitoring, partner engagement, supply follow‑up, quality assurance and reporting.
• Ensure strong linkages between WASH/IPC actions and broader emergency response standards.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in public health, environmental health, engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in WASH and IPC within humanitarian or emergency contexts.
• Proven experience coordinating multi‑sectoral responses to disease outbreaks, preferably Ebola.
• Strong understanding of national health systems, logistics constraints and community engagement.
