About the role

The African Peering & Interconnection Forum (AfPIF) Fellowship 2024 offers a dynamic learning experience for professionals engaged in Internet policy, business, or technical development across Africa. Fellows will deepen expertise in peering, interconnection, and traffic exchange while contributing to the growth of the African Internet ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Promote the establishment of peering coordinator roles among African ISPs.
• Facilitate peer‑to‑peer knowledge exchange and best‑practice sharing on IXP operation.
• Collaborate with industry experts to drive innovative interconnection initiatives.
• Participate in networking sessions and collaborative projects during the AfPIF event.

Required profile

• Resides in Africa and actively participates in or supports IXP development.
• Involved in Internet peering policy, business, or technical matters within your country/region.
• Basic understanding of how the Internet works and practical networking experience.
• Familiarity with dynamic routing protocols and network monitoring concepts.
