Business Development Manager – Kinshasa

About the role

The Business Development Manager is a senior position within Save the Children’s Programme Development and Quality (PDQ) team in Kinshasa. Reporting to the Director of PDQ and working closely with the Country Director, the role leads the identification of donor trends, the development of funding strategies for humanitarian response and the Country Strategic Plan, and the coordination of proposal development.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, research and disseminate new funding opportunities from bilateral, multilateral and institutional donors, and develop/update funding strategies.
• Lead the development of high‑value or complex proposals, serve as lead writer for key bids, and coordinate costing with Finance and Operations.
• Facilitate structured donor engagement, cultivate relationships with external stakeholders, and represent Save the Children in consortium meetings.
• Manage the Proposal Development and Reporting Officers, ensuring quality and timely delivery of proposals and reports.
• Provide regular updates to senior management on the funding pipeline, monitor progress toward targets, and support consortium arrangements.

Required profile

• Humanitarian or development professional with a relevant Master’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in emergency and development contexts, including new business development and large‑scale proposal coordination.
• Proven experience with multi‑million‑dollar budgets and familiarity with US and UK government programming.
• Excellent organizational, coordination and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly at all levels.
• Fluency in English and French (both written and spoken) and a strong commitment to Save the Children’s values and child safeguarding policies.
