Category Optimization Manager

About the role

Mutanda Mining (MUMI S.A.R.L), a mining company based in Kolwezi, Democratic Republic of Congo, is recruiting a Category Optimization Manager. Reporting to the General Manager – Products and Services, the manager leads and optimizes strategic sourcing and contracting for goods and services needed for the company's operations. The role covers category sourcing, tender management, commercial evaluations, supplier negotiations, contract administration and supplier governance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and optimize end-to-end strategic sourcing and contracting for operational goods and services
• Develop sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives, category requirements and operational needs
• Manage RFQs, RFPs, tenders and commercial evaluations
• Lead supplier negotiations and contract award processes
• Coordinate supplier onboarding and contract administration, and optimize contracts with KPIs, service levels and governance requirements
• Monitor supplier performance and support contractor governance
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies, delegation of authority and audit requirements
• Identify supply chain risks and implement mitigation measures
• Drive cost optimization and value creation, and use procurement data to support decisions
• Support ESG objectives and sustainable sourcing, and comply with environmental management requirements
• Lead, coach and develop the procurement team

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Commerce, Engineering or a related field
• Minimum 10 years' experience in Procurement or Supply Chain Management
• At least 5 years in a management position
• Experience in mining, heavy industry, manufacturing or oil and gas is preferred
• Proven experience in strategic sourcing, tendering, supplier negotiations and contract management
• Preferred certifications: CIPS, CPSM, APICS / CSCP; MBA advantageous

Required skills

• ERP or procurement platform experience such as SAP, Oracle, JDE, Pronto or Coupa
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power BI
• Strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, supplier relationship management and risk management
• Leadership, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
