Chief of Party – Humanitarian Program Lead (Bunia, DRC)

About the role

The Chief of Party (CoP) will lead the multi‑sectoral emergency program funded by the U.S. Department of State in Bunia, DRC. Reporting to regional leadership, the CoP ensures that project goals are achieved, budgets are managed responsibly, and staff are supported in a safe, mission‑driven environment.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and oversee all program activities, ensuring compliance with USDOS award terms, local laws, and Samaritan's Purse standards.
• Provide leadership, supervision, training, and performance appraisals for program staff, addressing physical, emotional, or spiritual concerns as needed.
• Develop and monitor the grant budget, approve spending, and review financial reports before submission to donors.
• Prepare timely, accurate program performance reports, donor updates, and proposal documents.
• Coordinate with government authorities, UN agencies, other humanitarian actors, and Samaritan's Purse partners to align project objectives.
• Conduct regular field visits to support staff, resolve challenges, and explore future program opportunities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Public Administration, Business, Economics, or related field; advanced education preferred.
• At least six years of international field‑level management experience, preferably in East Africa.
• Strong personal Christian faith and ability to serve as a witness for Jesus Christ.
• Preferred twelve credit hours of college‑level Biblical studies.
