Communications Consultant

About the role

The Communications Consultant will support the Women’s International Peace Centre’s mission to amplify women’s voices in peacebuilding. Working remotely from East Africa, the role collaborates with programme staff and partners across Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, Nepal, and Uganda to design and deliver communication strategies aligned with the organisation’s strategic plan.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of communication and outreach strategies for Burundi, DRC and South Sudan in liaison with communications staff, country‑based coordinators and partners.
• Conceptualise and create digital content for the website, social media platforms and campaigns that reflect the Peace Centre’s priorities.
• Produce bilingual communication materials such as newsletters, fact sheets, brochures, press releases and articles, ensuring wide dissemination through appropriate channels.
• Write, copy‑edit and proofread knowledge products including reports, technical papers, briefs, think pieces, web stories, blogs and press releases.
• Identify and synthesise best practices and lessons learned from country programmes to facilitate information exchange.
• Cultivate relationships with press outlets in target countries to enhance media coverage of the Centre’s work.

Required profile

• Fluency in both French and English.
• Proven experience designing communication strategies and producing multilingual communication materials.
• Ability to work collaboratively with programme staff and partners across multiple countries.
