Coordinator, Disaster Risk Management

About the role

The Disaster Risk Management Coordinator will support the IFRC Kinshasa Delegation in delivering strategic and operational coordination of disaster risk management across the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Burundi, Republic of Congo and Rwanda. Based in Kinshasa, the role involves frequent deployments to assist National Red Cross Societies and IFRC programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic guidance and operational support for disaster risk management initiatives in a multi‑country context.
• Coordinate anticipatory action, emergency response and resilience building activities with National Societies and partners.
• Facilitate cross‑border risk assessments, data sharing and joint planning.
• Deploy regularly to field sites to monitor programme implementation and provide technical assistance.
• Contribute to the development of policies, tools and best practices for disaster risk reduction.

Required profile

• Proven experience in humanitarian disaster risk management or related fields.
• Strong understanding of Red Cross and Red Crescent principles and humanitarian coordination mechanisms.
• Ability to work in complex, multi‑country environments and travel frequently.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
