Core Operations Manager

About the role

The Core Operations Manager will lead the day‑to‑day management of the core network for a leading telecommunications provider operating across Sub‑Saharan Africa. This role ensures high availability, optimal performance, and continuous improvement of core network elements such as MSC, GGSN/SGSN, EPC and IMS.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and manage core network elements (MSC, GGSN/SGSN, EPC, IMS) to guarantee service quality and availability.
• Analyse KPIs, optimise performance and drive efficiency improvements.
• Lead troubleshooting and incident management to minimise service disruption.
• Conduct capacity planning, monitor traffic trends and propose expansion plans.
• Coordinate with vendors for maintenance, upgrades and SLA compliance.
• Support network projects, including 4G/5G roll‑outs and new service introductions.
• Ensure network security and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain accurate documentation of architecture, configurations and changes.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing core network operations in a telecom environment.
• Strong analytical skills with a focus on performance optimisation and capacity planning.
• Ability to lead incident resolution and work collaboratively with technical and vendor teams.
• Familiarity with network security standards and regulatory requirements.
