Country Director – Democratic Republic of Congo

About the role

Geneva Call is seeking a senior professional to lead its country programme in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Country Director will provide strategic vision, technical oversight and overall management of humanitarian engagement with armed non‑state actors, ensuring the protection of civilians and compliance with international humanitarian norms.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement the country strategy, aligning with Geneva Call’s multi‑year objectives.
• Lead humanitarian engagement, research, advocacy and fundraising activities in the DRC.
• Ensure conflict‑sensitive programme design, monitoring, evaluation and learning.
• Manage safety and security risks, adhering to Geneva Call’s security policy.
• Oversee all resources, including staff, budget, assets and donor funding.
• Build partnerships with local authorities, civil society and other stakeholders.
• Represent Geneva Call in national and international forums.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in humanitarian programmes, preferably in conflict‑affected settings.
• Proven leadership and management skills at senior level.
• Strong understanding of international humanitarian law and protection of civilians.
• Ability to analyse security contexts and adapt programmes accordingly.
• Excellent communication and representation abilities.
