Environmental Water Engineer

About the role

The Environmental Water Engineer will lead water governance at Kamoto Copper Company’s mining complex in Kolwezi, DRC. Reporting to the Environmental Manager, the incumbent will define and execute the water management vision, ensuring compliance with legislation, regulatory requirements and best‑practice stewardship.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain an integrated site Water Management Strategy and Water Quality Improvement Programme.
• Maintain the site water balance, water‑quality management system and optimise treatment, sediment, storm‑water and seepage controls.
• Identify, assess and mitigate water‑related environmental risks; establish and monitor KPIs, TARPs and critical controls.
• Produce executive dashboards, Water Improvement Plan trackers and coordinate multidisciplinary teams for infrastructure projects.
• Lead regulatory engagement, compliance reporting and lender due‑diligence on water matters.
• Embed water management into mine planning, support Life‑of‑Asset data tracking and provide validated environmental inputs for reporting.

Required profile

• Relevant engineering or environmental science background.
• Experience in water management within an industrial or mining context.
• Ability to work under the supervision of an Environmental Manager and coordinate cross‑functional teams.
