Façade Engineer

About the role

WSP is seeking a Façade Engineer to join its Property & Buildings Structures team in Midrand. You will design, engineer, document, and support construction of building envelope systems, ensuring they are safe, durable, energy‑efficient, and meet project specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Develop façade concepts that align with architectural intent and project requirements.
• Perform structural analysis of façade systems, including wind, seismic, and thermal effects.
• Design curtain walls, cladding systems, glazing, and other envelope components.
• Evaluate thermal, acoustic, fire, and weatherproofing performance.
• Coordinate design with architects, structural, and MEP engineers.
• Prepare detailed drawings, calculations, and technical specifications.
• Support tender processes and review contractor submissions.
• Provide on‑site construction support and resolve technical issues.
• Define and review testing requirements, including mock‑ups and performance testing.
• Identify and mitigate risks such as water ingress and detailing defects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering.
• 3–8 years of experience in façade or building envelope engineering.
• Experience on commercial, industrial, or mixed‑use projects.
• Knowledge of façade materials (glass, aluminium, steel, composites) and building physics.
