Fiber Optic Planning & Performance Engineer

About the role

The role is responsible for planning, designing, testing and supervising the rollout of fiber optic infrastructure across NLD, Metro and FTTH/B networks. You will ensure network resilience, capacity optimisation and compliance with internal and regulatory standards while supporting both domestic and international services.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, design and test new fiber infrastructures for the financial year rollout.
• Redesign the network to meet Best Gigabit targets and footprint expansions.
• Conduct fiber network surveys and produce transmission reports.
• Design network resilience in line with Group Tech strategy.
• Supervise FTTH/B rollout, expansion and integration into the live network.
• Manage proof‑of‑concept projects for next‑generation fiber networking.
• Monitor and upgrade fiber links approaching capacity thresholds.
• Coordinate with transport divisions, equipment suppliers and field teams on capacity, integration and software upgrades.
• Oversee SLA monitoring for domestic and international leased lines.
• Maintain up‑to‑date network documentation, databases and resource allocation records.
• Enforce compliance with HSE, Vodafone and ARPTC standards.
• Lead cost‑saving initiatives such as fiber sharing and co‑building.
• Issue RFP/RFQ, evaluate suppliers and manage active equipment stock.

Required profile

• Proven experience in fiber network planning, design and rollout.
• Strong understanding of FTTH/B, NLD, Metro and FTTS technologies.
• Ability to manage large‑scale projects, ensure compliance and meet SLA targets.
• Experience interfacing with suppliers, transport divisions and field operations.
• Detail‑oriented with solid documentation and database management skills.
